Kerala government today informed the state high court that CBI's stand in expressing its willingness to probe a case against state Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Director Jacob Thomas on a petition at preliminary stage of hearing was "mysterious and doubtful".
It made the submission before Justice B Kemal Pasha in response to a petition by one Sathyan Naravoor seeking a CBI probe into Thomas allegedly taking up a private employment without obtaining permission from the government in 2009. The state government counsel said even before the court admitted the matter and heard preliminary objections on the maintainability of the petition, the CBI voluntarily filed a statement informing the court about its willingness to take over probe against Thomas.
The Judge posted the matter to November 3 for further hearing.
Earlier, in an unprecedented move, standing counsel for the CBI, Chandrasekhara Pillai, had filed a statement expressing willingness of CBI to take over investigation against Thomas.
