Amidst pandemonium on the floor of the house, the Kerala assembly today wound up its monsoon session, ten days ahead of the schedule. The session was originally scheduled to end on 18th of this month.

The opposition continued to protest inside the House today, demanding the resignation of the chief minister Oommen Chandy and on constituting a judicial enquiry in the solar power scam.

The opposition today moved an urgent motion in the house against the violent incidents occurred in the capital city on Monday. As the speaker did not allow this, opposition members moved into the well of the house and shouted slogans. Amidst noisy scenes, the Assembly passed the finance bills without discussion. Later, the Speaker G Karthikeyan adjourned the house as requested by the chief minister.

Outside the Assembly building, the city witnessed a series of clashes between the police and the workers of various students and youth organisations. The city was under tight police security.

Meanwhile, a grenade  exploded near the opposition leader, who was present at the inauguration of a dharna of the opposition MLAs in front of the House. Luckily, he had escaped without injury, but CPI leader and former Food and Civil Supplies minister C Divakaran got injured and was admitted to the hospital.
