Indeevaram', the first building of Phase II of Infopark Thrissur, which has all the potential to be developed into a major IT hub of Kerala, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on January 21.
Chandy will inaugurate the single block building spread over six acres and having a total built up area of 3.3 lakh square feet, Infopark CEO Hrishikesh Nair said.
"With inquiries coming in for ultra-modern business space, 'Indeevaram' (meaning blue lotus) building in Phase II promises to attract larger companies.
"Common amenities like bank, ATMs, auditorium, pantry, first aid room and shared meeting rooms are available on the ground floor, with food courts on the terrace and sufficient surface parking areas," he said.
It will also have space for startups and SMEs on the ground and first floors, while the upper floors will house bigger companies.
The first phase of Infopark Thrissur, being developed as a non-SEZ, focused mainly on domestic business enterprises.
"With the second phase being notified under Special Economic Zone (SEZ), it is expected to give boost to the export oriented businesses.
"The attractiveness of Infopark Thrissur is evident from the fact that many of the Phase I startups looking to expand have sought space in the new building itself, instead of looking to move away," he said.
Also, Infopark Thrissur gives at least a 20-30 per cent cost benefit to companies over the main hub in Cochin. 'Indeevaram' has been completed at a cost of Rs 76 crore in three years, taking the total investment in infrastructure, and facilities in both phases of Infopark Thrissur to around Rs 100 crore.
Nair said Infopark Thrissur has all the potential to be developed into a major IT hub, adding that it will provide jobs to around 3,000 people and indirect employment to about 15,000.
