Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu today sought the intervention of his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal into the death of an Arunachalee after allegedly being pushed from a train in UP recently.
Khandu wrote to Adityanath and Goyal seeking their personal intervention in delivering justice to the victim by arresting and giving exemplary punishment to the culprits.
Tage Dule, an youth from Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, was allegedly thrown out of the Arunachal Express by some people in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh in the intervening night of August 2 and 3.
He succumbed to his injuries at the Shyama Prasad Civil Hospital in Lucknow on August 6.
"I am given to understand that in his dying statement given to the UP Police from the hospital bed, he disclosed the atrocities inflicted upon him by unknown miscreants in the train and was finally pushed out of the train.
"I am also given to understand that there were burn injuries on his body, which indicates foul play by the miscreants before pushing him out of the train," Khandu wrote in the letters.
On behalf of the people of the north eastern state, Khandu sought immediate probe into the "horrific incident" and stringent action as per law.
Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has also asked the Uttar Pradesh government and the Ministry of Railways to conduct a proper investigation into the death of Dule.
