Themed as 'care of singing voice', the event, yesterday, urged people to assess their vocal health and take necessary steps to improve or to maintain good and healthy voice habits.
Leading the workshop, Dr Jayakumar R Menon, Head of the Department of Laryngology, KIMS Hospital said, "Voice is not indestructible in every day communication.
But one should be sure to avoid habitual yelling, screaming, or cheering.
And also try not to talk loudly in places with significant background noise or noisy environment.
Various topics like prioritised voice care, issues connected with vocal health and stamina for singers, day to day demands of voice, the hazards faced by occupational voice users, especially singers were deliberated in the workshop.
The programme, inaugurated by noted Hindustani vocalist and music composer Pandit Ramesh Narayanan, was followed by a musical night, which saw the participation of many known playback singers of the state.
