A complaint has been lodged at Saheed Nagar police station in the city by a family member of the deceased woman today and the matter is being examined, Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyabrata Bhoi said.
He said appropriate action would be taken after examining CCTV footage.
Holding the students responsible for the death of the woman, her husband Vinod Kumar said the incident should be investigated and action taken against those found guilty.
The middle-aged woman, identified as Suman Sharma from Jamshedpur, died in her car which was caught in the road blockade held by students of Utkal University who were protesting the cancellation of students union elections.
Police said the woman, who was driving, got stuck on NH 5 in front of the university due to the blockade. She fell unconscious inside the car suddenly and police along with some students rescued her after breaking open the glass window.
She was taken to Capital Hospital where she was declared brought dead, police said.
