Justin Lin is directing the movie from a script by cast member Simon Pegg and creator of TV series "Dark Blue", Doug Jung, reported Deadline.
"Star Trek" (2009) marked the first of the reboot series and 11th of the original film franchise. It was followed by "Star Trek Into Darkness" in 2013.
"Star Trek 3" will release on July 8, 2016.
