Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Kiran Choudhry today condemned the decision of the state-owned power discoms to impose a hike of 34 paise per unit in the fuel surcharge adjustment (FSA) and demanded its immediate rollback.
In a statement here, the former Excise and Taxation minister said the hike by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) would put extra burden on about 56 lakh power consumers across the state.
"It will hit the common man, who is already reeling under inflation and have a cascading effect on the cost of production, and result in across-the-board price rise," she said.
"The BJP government should look into the matter and direct power discoms to rationalize realization of the hike," she demanded.
Instead of giving relief to the consumers, the BJP government has chosen to add to the burden of the common man by hiking one or the other surcharge, Choudhry said.
It is an anti-people and anti-farmer decision and should be rolled back immediately, she demanded.
