Poonam Azad will resign "soon" and join AAP, sources close to her said. She is currently a Delhi BJP Spokesperson and was earlier its vice president.
She has faced growing marginalisation in the party for some years after having earlier being a member of the BJP National Executive thrice.
Her decision is also driven by the suspension of Kirti Azad, who had launched a bitter attack on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over alleged corruption in DDCA during the latter's tenure as its head and continued with his tirade despite party chief Amit Shah's intervention.
Sidhu, the former cricketer-turned politician, who had represented Amritsar in the Lok Sabha between 2004 and 2014 as BJP MP, resigned from Rajya Sabha yesterday. Sources close to him have already indicated that the 52-year-old is likely to join the Aam Aadmi Party.
