KJo leaves Ajay behind in box office battle on day one

Karan Johar's directorial venture "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" is running ahead at the box office, leaving behind Ajay Devgn's "Shivaay".
The two much-awaited Diwali releases hit cinema houses yesterday.
As per trade pundits, both the films are doings well at BO; Karan's film is faring well at multiplexes while Ajay's film is ruling the single screen theatres.
"Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" has earned Rs 13.30 crore at the box office in India on the opening day.
"We are thrilled and humbled with the love people are showering on "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil". It is a perfect Diwali entertainer and it has started on a very good note. The film has emerged as the biggest opener of Karan Johar," Apoorva Mehta, CEO, Dharma Productions said in a statement here.
The romantic-drama stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.
"We are overwhelmed and humbled with the response. This film is Karan's biggest opening," Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios (producers) said.
"Shivaay" earned Rs 10.24 crore on day one.
According to trade sources, further increase is expected at the box office over the weekend as "Shivaay" has received a positive response from the audience and movie connoisseurs are flocking to theatres to catch the high-octane action emotional drama.
