"So far the PF Commissioner's office has been able to enrol 50,000 new workers against the national target of 31,000 for Kolkata region", regional PF Commissioner(I) Rajib Bhattacharya said.
He said talks were on with leading construction agencies of the state to come up with names of workers for enrolment under the campaign.
"The jute industry has cooperated by providing names of workers to the PF office for enrolment," he said at an interaction organised by the MCCI here today.
He hoped that the national enrolment campaign might be extended by a month or two from the March 31, 2017 deadline.
At present the PF subscriber base in the country was four crore.
"This is expected to touch five crore," Bhattacharya said.
