A group of 20 'foodies' will walk on the streets of Bangkok-Pattaya on Bengali New Year's day, in the first such walk in a foreign land.
Christened as 'Baisakhe Bangkok', the 'foodies' (food bloggers and cuisine photographers) will walk the streets of Bangkok-Ayutthaya-Sriracha-Pattaya from April 14 (Chaitra Sankranti) and continue their journey for the next two days - the Bengali Noboborsho (New Year) on April 15 and the next day.
"We will savour Satay, Jay Eng tender (coconut milk-dipped meat), Sukiyaki (wok-fried melange of glass noodles, egg and seafood with a chilli sauce) and other popular local different street food and inform the vendors and people about Poila Baisakh," an organiser said.
"We, the food-lovers of Kolkata will also talk about Jhalmuri, Fuchka or 'Bharer Cha' (tea in earthen cups) - the yummy street food of Kolkata to the people of Thailand and show the vendors how to prepare them," he said.
The Royal Thai Embassy of Kolkata has extended all help, he said.
The food bloggers' club 'Panchforon', set up in 2015 is the only one in the city.
