Kolkata Police sergeant succumbs to burn injuries

A Kolkata Police sergeant, who was admitted to a city hospital with 40 per cent burns after he attempted suicide, succumbed to his injuries today.
"The condition of Joy Mukhopadhyay deteriorated and he died despite all attempts by the doctors," police said.
Mukhopadhyay, a traffic sergeant working at Sarsuna Police Station in south Kolkata, yesterday attempted suicide by setting himself on fire at his residence at Kasba in the southern part of the city.
He had suffered burns by the time he was rescued, police said, adding, the cause of the suicide is yet to be known.
