According to many reports, Cavallari was inside a vehicle which was struck by another car.
Her three young kids were reportedly not with her at the time. Police were at the hospital to take reports.
The accident is the second family tragedy in the past two months. Cavallari lost her brother Michael, who was found dead on December 10 after going missing in Utah for two weeks. Grand County Sheriff Steven White said hypothermia might have been a contributing factor in his death.
