Declaring the reconstitution of the Board by the AAP government and the appointment of Khan as its chairman, "illegal and void", the LG had yesterday referred to the CBI the issue of alleged corruption in the Board for a probe.
Khan alleged the board's land is occupied by high and mighty and it earned a meager amount in rent "but since I took over, the board has posted increase in its revenue".
Khan said, "The LG is running the RSS agenda and Congress is also helping them. I am being targeted because I am a Muslim."
He added never has there been a case where Waqf Board was locked down and wondered if it was dissolved because it was a Muslim entity.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the Waqf Board has some 1,100 bighas of land in the national capital, but was earning merely Rs 26 lakh in rent.
The L-G had also quashed all appointments made by Khan and reconstituted the board.
