The deceased, Humagir, was working at the DMRC site for construction of transit camp for CISF adjacent to Shastri Park metro station when the tripod pillar fell on him yesterday, they said.
A case under sections 387 (Putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion), 304 A (causing death by negligence) of IPC has been registered, police said.
A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson, however, said the 'hydra' that unloaded on the labourer was brought to the site without DMRC's permission.
"The hydra belonged to a sub contractor of the main contractor Aadhar Stambh and had been brought to the site without the permission of DMRC. An enquiry is being conducted," he said.
