Labourer killed in avalanche in J-K's Ganderbal

A labourer was killed while another was rescued after they came under a snow avalanche in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, police said.

The avalanche struck Royal Gund area in the central Kashmir district in the afternoon, a police official said.

He said rescue teams immediately swung into action and saved one of the labourers. They recovered the body of the other labourer.

The rescued person was sent to a nearby hospital, the official said.

He said the identities of the labourers were being ascertained.
