Municipal schools in the national capital have made elaborate arrangements to telecast Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Teachers' Day speech tomorrow and have sought maximum participation of its students.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation today said that arrangements have been made in 432 schools for around 2.25 lakh children and 5000 teachers to watch Modi speak.
"Education Department has made elaborate arrangements through funds available at schools at disposal of principals, to install TV or screens with cable connections and in some schools with projectors to ensure that children and teachers get to see Prime Minister's speech on the occasion," Chairman of Education Committee, SDMC, Ashish Sood said.
North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), which has over 750 schools under its jurisdiction, has also made arrangements according to Delhi government guidelines for the day.
"We have about 760 schools under our jurisdiction. While the children in the morning shift will be exempted from attending school, second shift students and others will be attending the programme," Director (Information and Press) of NDMC Yogendra Singh Mann said.
Prime Minister Modi will give a pep talk to about 1,000 selected students at the Manekshaw Auditorium in New Delhi tomorrow, which will be beamed live to over 18 lakh government and private schools in the country through Doordarshan and education channels.
He will also interact with students and take questions through video-conference facility. The telecast will start at 3 PM and continue up to 4.45 PM.
The civic bodies today also said that media coverage of the event would be allowed at some of the schools.
Mann, also the Director (Information and Press), East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) said apart from a municipal school at Turkman Gate near the Civic Centre under NDMC, two schools under EDMC would also be open for coverage.
The two schools under EDMC are -- Primary School, Mayur Vihar ph-III and Primary School GTB Enclave.
"Some schools already have television and those which do not, are arranging for a set. The students of second shift (starting 12.30 PM) and general shift (starting 1 PM) will be attending the programme. Students in 23 of our aided and 164 recognised schools will also be attending," Mann said.
Arrangements are also being made in East Delhi municipal schools, numbering over 550.
