Lakshmi Vilas Bank names P Mukherjee as new MD & CEO

The South India-based Lakshmi Vilas Bank today said Parthasarathi Mukherjee will be bank's new managing director and chief executive officer.
"The Reserve Bank has given its approval for appointment of Parthasarathi Mukherjee as new MD and CEO of the bank for three years from the date of his taking charge," it said in a regulatory filing.
He succeeds Rakesh Sharma, who has joined as MD and CEO of Canara Bank, it added.
"Mukherjee brings with him a rich experience of more than 33 years in banking industry. He joins from Axis Bank where he served as group executive (Corporate Relationships and International Business)," the bank said in a statement.

Prior to joining Axis Bank (the erstwhile UTI), he had worked with State Bank of India for 12 years.
