Lalit Kumar Mazumder passes away

Lalit Kumar Mazumder, a former teacher of Patha Bhawan of Visva Bharati, passed away at his residence here, his family said.
Majumder (89) was suffering from age-related ailments for a long time, Visva Bharati sources said.
He came to Santiniketan and joined as a teacher in English when Rathindranath Tagore was the Vice-Chancellor of Visva Bharati.
Nobel laureate Amartya Sen was one of his eminent students.
Sen in his writings had mentioned Mazumder as an esteemed and favourite teacher.
He is survived by two daughters.
His last rites will be held here tomorrow.
