Lapses behind woman going missing from metro station: Police

A speech and hearing impaired woman who went missing from a Delhi Metro station on April 21 had exited "without token", that too on her "fourth attempt", police said today.
These facts lay bare lapses on the part of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), that handles security of the metro premises, and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) authorities.
Police sources said the CISF personnel posted near the exit gates of the Adarsh Nagar Metro Station at that point could have prevented 19-year-old Sunita from making an exit had they been alert.
"She wasn't carrying a token and while exiting, she could only get out on the fourth attempt. It is questionable as to why the CISF personnel at the gate didn't see this or alert somebody," a police source said.

More than two officials, who are privy to the ongoing probe into the case and have seen the CCTV footage, confirmed it.
Metro's customer care cubicles, manned by staff from outsourced agencies, are also located near the exit gates.

It has been learnt that police might be approaching the CISF to seek more clarity in the case.
The DMRC did not respond to queries on the matter.
Police have circulated her photographs in NCR towns such as Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurgaon to gain clues.
The Delhi Police's Twitter handle has also tweeted about her disappearance and asked people to share details about her.

She was travelling with her family and was unable to get down with them at Jahangirpuri Metro Station. After that, when the train made a reverse journey, she deboarded at Adarsh Nagar station.
