Cabbie Gerardo Gamboa has been awarded USD 1,000 for his honesty by the cab company he works for.
The taxi driver was making a pick-up on Monday at the Bellagio hotel when a hotel doorman noticed the brown paper bag and handed it to him.
When Gamboa stopped at a traffic light after picking up his next passenger, he peeked inside the bag and discovered the money, 'Las Vegas Sun' reported.
The cash was secured by the taxi company office and the owner was tracked.
Once the owner's identity was verified, the cab company, Yellow Checker Star, turned the cash over to him.
The cash owner told Gamboa he planned to reward him and got his contact information.
"If he doesn't give me anything, that's OK. I'm not waiting for any kind of return. I just wanted to do the right thing, and I appreciate what the company did for me," Gamboa said.
