Wrapping up the three-day winter session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said personal enmity or other family tiffs could lead to murders, "but the Government should take action when some groups take law into their hands and create problems."
"During the previous DMK regime, following problems within their family, an individual group attacked the office of Dinakaran (run by Maran brothers), set on fire the office, resulting in the death of three persons. This is the biggest example of deterioration of law and order," he said.
Alleged supporters of Alagiri were suspected to be behind the attack.
Further, the Chief Minister said that the police were acting swiftly to avert caste clashes in the state, especially, making swift arrests and holding awareness meetings.
Culprits were detained under the stringent Goondas Act, he said while denying there was any major communal clashes in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin in the last three and a half years.
