Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, who penned a strong essay on pay disparity in Hollywood, reportedly walked away from Sony's romantic dramedy 'Rosie Project' following a difficult negotiation with the studio's new chairman, Tom Rothman.
The news about Lawrence's decision to walk away from the project surfaced around the same time she penned the essay ""Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?" on October 13.
In the essay, she wrote, "I didn't want to keep fighting over millions of dollars."
Sony reportedly did not want to shell out USD 20 million that it was paying to Lawrence for "Passengers" and she was ready to take a cut but according to The Hollywood Reporter Lawrence already had a tough negotiation on the sci-fi project.
The actress became frustrated as Rosie dealmaking dragged on and began to reevaluate her interest.
"Rothman was doing a lot of grinding on The Rosie Project, and it took its toll. If it had been done more quickly, it wouldn't have fallen apart," a source said.
Linklater, who was reportedly brought in on the project by Lawrence, too bailed out once she left the project.
