Lead futures gain 0.70% as demand picks up

Lead prices were up by 0.70 per cent to Rs 143.15 per kg in futures trading today as traders raised their bets on the back of uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in November was trading higher by Re 1, or 0.70 per cent to Rs 143.15 per kg in business turnover of 1,261 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in November contracts edged up by 70 paise, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 143.50 per kg in 13 lots.
Market analysts said increased positions buil up by participants amid pick-up in demand from battery-makers in the spot market mainly led to the rise in lead prices at futures trade.
