Lead futures strengthened by 0.83% to Rs 127.30 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid demand in the domestic spot market and a firming global trend.

In futures trading, lead for delivery in June was trading at Rs 1.05, or 0.83% higher at Rs 127.30 per kg, with a business turnover of five lots at Multi Commodity Exchange.

Also, metal for delivery in the current month gained 95 paise, or 0.76%, to Rs 126.20 per kg in a business volume of 277 lots.

Marketmen said that apart from domestic demand, particularly from battery-makers, gains in copper and other base metals in overseas market supported the upside in lead prices in futures trade.
