The couple, who married two years ago, are said to be pitching their idea to various networks, reported Us magazine.
The comedy show will even include a "crazy ex-wife" character, based on Cibrian's former spouse Brandi Glanville with whom Rimes has a 'difficult' relationship.
"They have been shopping around a scripted comedy based on their lives together. They would play versions of themselves, kind of like on Curb Your Enthusiasm," a source said.
The insider insisted that Cibrian's children from his first marriage would not star in the show.
Cibrian and Rimes's relationship got off to a controversial start after they had an affair while they were each still married to their respective partners Brandi Glanville and Dean Sheremet.
