"I hope that Union Government will give thousands of acres of land alongside the railway tracks lying unused, on lease to Gujarat to grow fodder with people's participation given the drought-like situation prevailing here," he said.

Meanwhile, Modi who held a district level meeting with officials in Bhavnagar today to review the scarcity situation asked them to do away with the old-fashioned relief manuals and apply innovative methods to deal with the situation.

The state government had recently declared 14 districts and 152 talukas of the state as scarcity-hit due to deficient rains and announced a stimulus package.
