The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has completed the installation of 100 per cent LED lightings in all its stations a week before the target, a Railway official said.
Due to the installation of LED lights in all the stations, the ECoR is expected to save about 21 lakh units of energy approximately which will also save about Rs 1.33 crore annually, the ECoR official said.
Indian Railways had planned to make all the stations 100 per cent LED lit to cut power consumption and the ECoR achieved it a week before the set target of March 2018.
The official said, "It is a huge initiative taken by the ECoR to provide energy efficient lighting which will eventually help in the conservation of environment also."
