"The PDS system has completely broken down in the country. There is no food security for the poor in this country. The prices of onion are rising as the centre is exporting onions to foreign nations, without fulfilling the demand of our country," said Bose while addressing a party program here.
Opposition leader Surya Kanta Mishra accused the Trinamool Congress of staying mum on the issues of Food Security when it was alliance partner of UPA at the centre.
Mishra also took a dig at the West Bengal government for selling dressed chicken from fair price shops in order to check prices.
"For the state government the prices of chicken is far more important that providing rice to each and every poor of the state," said Mishra.
