Congress' number of legislators have come down to 39 after five of its MLAs switched over to Trinamool Congress. The Left front has 31 MLAs. TMC had won 211 seats in the last state Assembly poll defeating the Left-Congress combine.
Leader of opposition and state Congress leader Abdul Mannan had on November 30 announced his party's decision to bring in no-confidence motion against the Trinamool government and had accused it of being "undemocratic".
"The way they (TMC) have poached on our MLAs, elected representatives in rural bodies and municipalities is not only undemocratic but also unprecedented in the history of Bengal politics. Infants trafficking, chit funds, poaching on MLAs are a regular affair in Bengal politics under TMC rule," he had said.
