The communist outfits also questioned the 'Run For Unity' organised by the government for Sardar Patel and reminded the BJP-led dispensation about the ban imposed by the then Home Minister on RSS in the aftermath of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination.
"Prime Minister should know who all are working against unity, peace and harmony. They are all RSS and Sangh Parivar outfits. Across the country, they are working against unity, peace and harmony," said CPI national secretary D Raja.
He was reacting to remarks made by Modi earlier in the day that "unity, peace and harmony" are the basis for the country's progress. He also asked people to take forward Patel's message that the nation can sacrifice anything for its unity.
Questioning the 'Run For Unity', Raja said Modi should rather "speak up and assure action" to the nation in the backdrop of intolerance incidents like Dadri lynching.
CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury shared online pages of late historian DR Goyal's book 'Rashtriya Sawayamsevak Sangh' which refers to Patel banning the RSS.
Invoking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's work for national integration, the Prime Minister said, "Unity is our biggest strength...We have to move forward with the mantra of unity, peace and harmony.
