A male leopard had accidentally fallen into a well at an agricultural field in Tamaswadi village of Niphad taluka yesterday and was noticed by one Jayawant who had gone near the well to switch on a pump-set, Pradip Bhamare, assistant forest guard, Forest department, said.
Villagers then informed the forest department which immediately rushed a team to rescue the big cat, he said.
The team members released a cage by using rope and dropped it inside the well, thereby successfully taking out the animal in the nearly five-hour long rescue operation with help of locals.
