A leopard and a fox died after they accidentally fell into a well in Aurangabad district in the Marathwada region, officials said today.
The carcasses of the animals were found yesterday from inside the well in a farm, which belongs to one Ganesh Shimre, in Halda village of Sillod tehsil in the district, circle officer of Ajantha forest range D M Pawar said.
Prima facie it appears that the leopard might have chased the fox and both the animals fell inside the well accidentally and drowned, he said.
The carcass were fished out and an autopsy was carried out today at Ajantha, the officer said.
