Let's work together in tackling coronavirus: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a proposal to stay indoors and urged everybody to work together in fighting the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The chief minister made a slew of announcements, including the creation of a state emergency relief fund to collect aid from those willing to donate.

Banerjee also requested the Centre to send necessary medical kits at the earliest.

The state government would provide rice, which is distributed in ration shops, for free over the next six months, benefiting 7.5 crore people of the state, she said.

Banerjee announced that state government employees would in rotation till March 31.

"From next week, state government employees will work in rotation. Fifty per cent will work from home through e-office system. This roster system will be in place till March 31," she said.

Asked if she supported Modi's proposal of "Janata curfew" on Sunday, the CM said: "In this crisis situation, the PM has made a proposal. Let us all work together in tackling the pandemic.
