LFW:Krishna Mehta presents contemporary 'Maheshwar' collection

Veteran fashion designer Krishna Mehta showcased a contemporary line of age-old Maheshwari weave from Madhya Pradesh at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week here.
Mehta has earlier done shows featuring the traditional textiles of Gujarat, Manipur, Benaras etc and this time she focused on this popular handloom fabric from Maheshwar city in Khargone district of MP.
To bring handlooms to modern retail, the Development Commissioner for Handlooms Ministry of Textiles Government of India in association with Clothing Manufacturers Association of India has launched an initiative of promoting Handlooms in modern retail at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 with Krishna Mehta's collection.
Mehta displayed her collection called 'Magic Woven in Maheshwar'.
The collection saw fluid pants, flared skirts, tunics, boleros worn with saris and kurtas, waistcoats, skirts, loose pyjamas, long sleeve tops and gowns. Men's wear had kurtas, cropped pants, jackets, bundgalas and pants. Colours started with black, white, grey, red, orange, fuchsia, aqua, indigo and purple.
Earlier, Morarka Arts and Crafts Foundation presented collection of three designers at the LFW. Designer Anavila Sindu Misra showcased beautifully designed linen saris with accompanying blouses that had detailing. The colour story was burnt rose, black, white, green, ochre and beige.
11.11 CellDSGN, brain child of Shani Himanshu and Smita Singh Rathore along with artist and designer Mia Morikawa, also put up their show. This well-known label has dressed many personalities.
Their collection featured a line of jackets, shirts, trousers, denim, skirts, tops in shades of beige, blue, off white.
The "Tilla" by Aratrik Dev Varman displayed asymmetric midi, crushed skirt blouse, tube, long and short dresses besides minis ideal for summer. The colour palatte ranged from beige, pink and black.
