In order to ensure fool-proof detection and prosecution in crime against women, Lt Governor Anil Baijal today directed Delhi Police to focus on collecting scientific evidence in a systematic and time-bound manner.
Baijal asked the force to make its website more interactive and user friendly, and analyse emerging trends on a regular basis.
The directions were issued at a review meeting on city law and order situation, which he chaired. The meeting was attended by chief secretary, principal secretary (Home), Commissioner of Police, special CPs and Joint CPs.
"The Lt Governor directed that the quality of investigation especially in the cases related to women be improved with higher focus on collection of scientific evidence in a systematic and time-bound manner, so as to ensure fool-proof detection and prosecution," an official statement said.
Baijal directed that action against those found in illegal sale of liquor and other violations related to drinking be shared with the excise department for effective multi-pronged action against violators, it said.
"The L-G also stressed that the work of lighting of dark spots be completed within a time frame in active coordination with Delhi Police, principal secretary (PWD) and the three DMCs," the statement said.
