The prosecution case was that Ramasamy had kidnapped a 14-year-old girl from Kalingarayanpalayam near here on December 23 last year and taken to Pollachi in Coimbatore and raped her.
Following a complaint from the gir's parents, police conducted an inquiry and traced the girl and arrested Ramasamy.
The girl told her parents and police about the incidents, following which he was arrested and cases filed against him under various sections of IPC, including rape.
Erode District Mahila Court Judge N Thirunavukkarasu awarded life sentence for raping a minor girl and also awarded ten years RI for kidnapping the girl. The sentences should run concurrently, the judge said.
