"The incident took place when victims were struck by the lightening while making bricks in Karoti village, located around 260 kms away from the Chhattisgarh state capital Raipur, under Orgi block this evening," Surajpur Superintendent of Police S S Sori told PTI.
Later, it started raining heavily. So they took shelter in two huts located there, but suddenly, lightning struck killing four of them, the police official said.
Those killed were identified as Bachhelal (50), his wife Atwari (45), their daughter Sarojini (25) besides another woman called Rambai (35), while Bachhelal's son Hasaula (16) and Rambai's husband Sopari (42) were injured in the incident, he said.
The injured were admitted to a local community health centre, where their condition is stated to be out of danger, he said.
