Liquor brewing unit set ablaze by suspected Maoists

A liquor brewing unit was set afire by suspected Maoists at a village in M Rampur area of Kalahandi district, police said today.
A group of ultras, including women, stormed into Dengsur-Tipadi village in the early hours yesterday and attacked the unit and set it on fire after threatening the employees present there, the police said.
Raw material for making local brew, bottles, liquor pouches, documents and two motorcycles were damaged in the fire, they said.
A poster bearing the name of the banned CPI (Maoist) Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh and Nayagarh division was recovered from the site asking people to close down liquor units everywhere.

A police team visited the spot and investigation into the incident was on, Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Rai said.
