She was hit by a bullet from a country-made pistol last night but how the bullet hit her and in what circumstances the pistol was used is a matter of investigation, Superintendent of Police (SP) O P Tripathi said.
The minor girl identified as Mishthi Yadav (11) along with her younger sister and aunt reached her father's office situated behind the liquor shop at Modern Square to collect chocolates when the incident took place.
After hearing the bullet shots, her father Bablu Yadav rushed to the spot and found that a bullet had hit her in her chest. He immediately took her to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
Police had recovered the country-made pistol from the spot and is further probing the incident.
