The programme organised on the sidelines of the Indo-Africa summit was inaugurated by the BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi who is also a member of the NDMC.
"India and Nigeria share a very warm relationship not just in economic terms but political terms as well. We have a shared history in which we fought exploitation, we brought our people together, we are where we are due to hard work," she said.
A large screen was set-up for digital interaction of Delhiites with the citizens of Lagos in Nigeria.
During the cultural programme students of NDMC schools presented patriotic songs, the students from Nigeria Indian School waved Indian flags and sang their traditional folk songs.
"This is a platform where people connected with each other. Two countries from two different continents came together and shared their cultures through live video streaming," NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar said.
NDMC has lined up a cultural treat for the public focusing on the theme of the confluence of cultures.
"We are very happy to be a part of this historic moment and we want such events to be held in future as well. With such initiatives we get to know a lot about the culture of other countries," said a student who participated in the video streaming.
