The driver, Thomas George, was arrested today after the incident, that occurred last week, came to light when the girl complained to her parents about pain in her private parts, they said.
The girl was also reluctant to travel in the accused's autorickshaw after the incident, they said.
According to police, the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted while she was being taken to a day-care home facility after her school hours by the accused.
The girl, an LKG student, used to be sent to school and from there to the day care regularly in the autorickshaw of George.
He was booked under IPC Section 376 (rape) and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said.
