The Assam Government has decided to transfer Lot Mandals and Kanongos (revenue land administration staff) in the state for better land records management, officials said Thursday.

A meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbanadna Sonowal here Thursday it was decided to ask the Director of Land Records to prepare a proposal to be submitted to Revenue and Disaster Management to draft a notification to give shape to transfer of Lot Mandals and Kanongos across the state, they said.

The meeting was of the opinion that the move has been necessitated to facilitate share of knowledge and better management of land records throughout the state.

Since lot Mandals and Kanongos hold the key at the bottom level revenue administration, its efficiency, transparency and accountability, the meeting decided the move would help the state government essentially to facilitate transfer of knowledge and authentic land records management.

Science and Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta, Pension and Public Grievances Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Minister of State for Revenue and Disaster Management Bhabesh Kalita and senior officials were present in the meeting.
