Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today indicated that the investigation into the Louis Berger bribery case could be expanded to cover the awarding of contracts for the actual work.
"If just for the consultancy so many crores of rupees were paid, then imagine how many crores must have been paid to win the contracts under JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) projects," he said here today.
"Everything needs to be investigated," he said.
The investigation by Goa Police's Crime Branch was exposing several skeletons, he said. "Investigation got results quickly. Even I wasn't expecting such fast results," Parsekar said.
The case will be handed over to CBI after the probe by the Crime Branch was over, he said.
So far four people, including former PWD minister Churchill Alemao, have been arrested in the case.
The Chief Minister also slammed the Congress for stalling the Parliament. "Despite the wipeout in the Lok Sabha polls, Congress has not learnt any lessons. The party is only working for the interest of Gandhi family," he said.
"I have seen stalling of Parliament, but I have never seen senior leaders storming into the well of the House," he said, adding, the party hadn't been able to digest the electoral defeat.
However, he lauded Congress's conduct in the Goa Assembly. "The leader of opposition (Pratapsingh Rane) has been working very democratically. We welcome his behaviour," Parsekar said.
