Ludhiana coldest at 2.7 C as biting cold wave sweeps Pb & Hry

Ludhiana was the coldest place in the state today with a low of 2.7 degrees Celsius as biting cold waves swept most places in Punjab and neighbouring Haryana.
Ludhiana's minimum settled four notches below normal and dropped by three degrees since yesterday, the MeT Department report here said.
Piercing cold waves also swept the holy city of Amritsar, which recorded a low of 4.1 deg C, down one notch while Patiala registered a minimum of 6.5 deg C.
Cold weather also prevailed in Chandigarh, where minimum temperature dropped to 5.2 deg C, down two notches.
Cold conditions also tightened grip over Haryana, where Hisar was the coldest place at a low of 3.1 deg C, five notches below normal.
Karnal also reeled under biting cold at 5 deg C, down four notches, while Ambala (6.7 C) and Narnaul (6 C) also recorded below normal minimum temperatures.
Bhiwani's low settled at 8.2 deg C.
The maximum temperatures at many places in the two states and Chandigarh also fell by couple of notches since yesterday.
