Recounting an incident when he was the national security advisor of the country, Narayanan said the writer had sought to know from the Prime Minister who he was during an internal discussion on the civilian nuclear deal.
"Then I had to say I am the security advisor to the country," Narayanan told the audience recounting that he had differences with Singh during the discussions.
Narayanan added he shared good relations with the writer despite differences at times.
According to the book, the first name suggested by Sonia Gandhi following Rajiv Gandhi's assassination was that of then vice-president Shankar Dayal Sharma.
Sharma had declined the honour saying he was too old to shoulder grave responsibilities.
The book also narates unknown details and interesting stories of VVIPs including several presidents, prime ministers and others bigwigs.
