The CISF cover for the Madras High Court complex here was Wednesday extended by the court for a period of one year from November 16.
A first bench comprising Chief Justice Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani and Justice M Duraiswamy passed the order extending the Central Industry Security Force (CISF) protection to the court complex for a further period of one year.
The security of the high court complex was taken over by the CISF from the Tamil Nadu Police on November 16, 2015, for a period of one year following an order of the court.
The court had issued the order on a PIL initiated by itself after lawyers created a ruckus in the complex while agitating for declaration of Tamil as an official language of the court and over contempt of court proceedings against two Madurai-based bar association leaders.
Since then, the court has extended the CISF cover twice.
