Inaugurating the rejuvenation camp, Salem District Collector K Maharabhushanam said the elephant would be treated in the camp for 48 days.
The Forest Department officials said that the diet for the pachyderm would include 20 sugarcanes, eight coconut tree branches, five bananas, eight tender banana stems, 12 kg of ragi, four kg of horsegram, two kg of rice, two coconuts, 100 gram of salt and 100 gram of jaggery for a day.
The rejevenation camp would be held till January 27 at the Bhavani riverbed in Coimbatore district, while the camp for those elephants managed by Forest department would be conducted in Nilgiris, Salem and at Vandalur Zoo near Chennai.
