"We today collected 39 samples of Maggi from across the state including Ahhmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot and sent them for laboratory testing," Commissioner of Food and Drug Control, H G Koshia told PTI.
"We are expecting the results by the end of this week and after that we will decide further course of action," he said.
The tests will be conducted to find out whether the ingredients in it are the same as the ones disclosed on the packages, and whether it is safe to consume.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has also tested Maggi samples collected from different states in the wake of Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) finding monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limits in the popular snack.
